Cross processing

This is a photo I shot on a roll of Agfa RSX-II 200 on my Yashica Mat-124G.

I had it cross processed by my lab and then I scanned it at home.

I love the look of this photo, it’s exactly what I’m after when I do cross processing.

I’m not a fan of the extreme colour casts you sometimes get.

This isn’t how it came out of the scanner though.

It came out with an ugly yellow colour cast – and I hate that yellow colour cast.

So, I remove it in Photoshop.

Yep, my cross-processed photos have had their colours tweaked in Photoshop.

I know that to some people that is heresy – but how many people have spent hours tweaking scanning software to alter the look of their cross processed photos?

Or even changed labs because they preferred the scans from one lab over another?

What I do is no different – just a whole lot more efficient.

Something to think about next time you’re cursing at your scanner.
